Re: Sony DSC MVC camera repairs
Andrew B - 14th Nov 2005 5:46
I have a Sony DSC-P5 model camera, and after taking a picture, instead of showing the picture then going back to normal, the LCD screen just shut off along with everything else. I can't seem to get it to turn on again, and I am wondering if I need to get it repaired, or if it is possible the batterie just died out, seeing how the camera is at the least 4 years old. However, it did say the battery was full before taking the picture.

When a battery is bad, it actually shows full charge when charged, but discharges quickly. I suggest to try it with known good battery or just buy a new one. If that still doesn't help, please get back to me.

Carrie - 17th Dec 2005 17:40 I have had this problem with my dsc-p5 also. I have 3 different batteries (2 sony and 1 energizer). I get about 3 pictures before the low battery light blinks and shuts off. But I can turn the camera on and take 3 more pictures..., this continues until I turn the camera on and it shuts off immediately or I can't turn the camera on. I have a battery charger that I stopped using because I thought it might not be charging the batteries properly so I have been charging the batteries in the camera but still have the same result. I find it hard to believe that I have 3 bad batteries. I have also heard that this is a documented problem with this camera but can't seem it find any info. when I google. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? I love this camera but have been looking into getting a new one, wish I didn't have to though. Thanks!

If you are positive that batteries are good, you can send me your camera and I will take a look. Please get back to me by email, just click on my name. Thanks.

gp - 4th Nov 2006 21:55 I also had this problem, but found that it was because the battery was not making a good enough connection to the camera. Try pushing the battery in further and then placing something between the battery and the door to keep the battery in place.
