I have the same problem. The only thing is is that the lens will not go back into the camra. It's like it just died.

I have had this with LS743, took both covers off to try and blow clean and did not work. Out of frustation as I have already purchased a new camera I tapped the lens on my mouse mat quite firmly whilst the covers were off and the damn thing now works, ironic after replacing it. I believe the retracting lens gets stuck with small debris and dust.

Did you ever find out what the code e45 was? Hardware or software problem?

nady - 9th Nov 2006 6:45 I have a Kodak CX6330 and I was getting error E45 as well - once the lens had gone out, it wouldn't go back in and close upon switching off the camera.
I opened up the camera (if you can't find a screwdriver tiny enough, use a simple utility knife! you can break off the tip a little bit and it fits) ..then I CLEANED the circular metal contact surface under the selection dial carefully. ALSO, what I think was the main problem, was that one of the four contact plates (right underneath the selection dial), was bent backwards a bit. So I used a tiny pincette from a swiss pocket knife to fix it. And that was it, then I put the cover and batteries back, switched the camera on and it worked fine, no error E45 anymore, YAY! That’s it from me, hope it works for you too.
greetings,
nadia

jay - 4th Jan 2007 13:38 e45 fix Either the camera has got very damp or grit has got into the lens. Now heres the fix which so far has worked for me with many similar kodak models.
If your camera is out of gtee give it a good hard slap, kodaks are notorious for jammed lenses and shutter, being just a thin sliver of plastic any damp tends to make them stick together, hold the camera and bash the edge next to the lens against the palm of you hand as hard as you can, one I did have to get a little more medieval on and bashed aginst a bit of carpet on the bench.. but it worked... might be worth a go if the next step is the bin...

Ian Ingamells - 5th Nov 2007 23:52 I had the same on my kodak LS743 - I tapped the lens on my palm when turning on, and it worked a treat, its sorted now, see how long it lasts!
Thanks for the advice, saved me the cost of a repair and or replacement!
Cheers Ian.
