having problems with my jvc D70U digital video camera

jvc D70U
i have a jvc D70U video camera and when i turn it on it shows a black screen that says "lens cap" but there is not a lens cap on. when i record it records sound but no picture. any idea whats wrong?

I have the same camera and I also have had this problem, but It only last a few seconds and then the lens picks up the light. Try turning it on in front of a bright bulb to see if it is searching for more light. There are several problems I have read about and mine hasn't been affected yet.
