SONY DCR TRV320

Error Message C31:42

My SONY DCR TRV320 started showing error msg C31:42. I found several drops of Coke drink got into cassette chamber. Tape got stuck. Drying the chamber did not improve probably because Coke left sticky surfaces. Tried Cleaning the rollers with nail polish remover, hitting the camera as suggested in one message on this website, removing and replacing battery , cleaning a 1mm square black piece at the left bottom inside chamber (perhaps a sensor), etc. After several attempts error message is gone after getting C31:22 in between . I do not know which one helped. After playing for some time camera stopped playing. Now no error message. Rewinding is ok. On play mode tape reel is rotating BUT on opposite (rewind) direction at play speed for a few second and stops. No picture on blue screen or sound. On fast forward tape is not moving. Would appreciate any help.

I have the same error message, it comes and goes, its also on a TRV340E this may be a manufacturing fault. If its the same camera, maybe we should approach SONY together, I rang them and they couldnt tell me what the fault code is, maybe you could try, if any luck let me know. By removing the battery, cleaning the head and generally trying to get the software into a differnt mode seems to clear it sometimes, even charging with no battery, leave battery out for over 24 hours so it looses the memory. Let me know how you get on. Regards terry
