hi, i've had the same problem only my camcorder is a gr-d20e but i guess it will work for you too...

you have to reset your camcorder by opening it and to unplug a "cable" at the back near the record button. (it's about the only cable you can unplug)
(i've had the cable out for a while but i don't think this matters)

*note* the small screws are different in sizes so remember/draw where they came from

put it all back and your camera should work again. (for how long is the question???)

the JVC helpdesk isn't helpfull either (the belgian one)
