For what it's worth - my KV27-series "died" on me several years ago. I had purchased the aftermarket extended warranty through Montgomery Wards (I told you it was several years ago!) and they had a repair facility right here in town.
Long story, short version: Took it to shop, they plugged it in, it worked fine! I tried everything I could think of at the house short of simply UNPLUGGING the unit from the wall. That's all it took to "reset" my television set - and it's been in daily use ever since. Never saw the problem happen again. Maybe you'll get as lucky as I did??
