Home | Previous messageHi, I have a digital camcorder GR-D72u displaying error E03. Had it for less than 4 months. Two weeks ago I wanted to record, and when turning on gave the "E03 error: Unit in Safeguard Mode, Eject and Re-insert tape." #1 I tried that, but still get the same error. I emailed JVC. #2 They suggested removing the battery for one minute. Still same error. #3 I tried a fresh tape, the error went away for one day, but next day back to same error. My guess (but I prefer a technical information) is that it must doing something (damaging) the tapes; that triggers the error. Unfortunately, I ran out of labor warranty. Any help/suggestion would be welcomed. Thanks.

I have had the same problem with an older JVC camcorder. Fixing it is usually more expensive than the camera is worth. Though out of warranty only 4 months, JVC said they would give me free parts but I would have to pay for labor. Labor costs were $140!!! The camera new cost $400 and a new replacement (whatever replaced it) would be $300. So I ditched the camera and bought the next model up on eBay for $112. I suggest you do the same, and never buy another new JVC camera again. Gary |
