I had the very same problem. The cap. was bulging and noted a little of browning on the board which indicated a bit of over heating. Found replacement 1000uF, 35V clearing out at Radio Shack ($.99 Cdn). Working like a charm. Thanks. Before this, I also had a new 36' JVC, it shuts off after 2 months of use while still under warranty. Tech. said it needed new module and parts.... I returned the unit to vendor for full refund and since bought a Wega. This could be a design problem with all JVC's.
