HomePicture flashes on and off. On start-up screen is black with occasional picture flash for half second. Gradually picture becomes predominant with occasional black flash. Sound is good constantly. My TV picture started occasionally going black for brief intervals a few months back (a few times per day). Now, on startup, screen is black for 20-30 seconds and then there is a flash of picture for about 1/2 second. Sound is good troughout entire time. Over the next 4-5 minutes, picture flash comes quicker to the point where picture is almost constant with occasional screen blackout for 1/2 second every few minutes. I tried tapping on back of picture tube (plugged in circuit board) with dowel rod...no help. Any ideas????

I have the exact same tv with the exact same symptoms. I am still figuring out what to do. Use these five sec. to make ajustments. Idecided to ajust the color to see if set was worth taking in Standby light had been on constant for monthes now after adjustments it was actually out until I did a bunch of channel changes but tv hasn't blanked for three hours go to menu get brightness up lower color levels lumesponder off had hard time goinging through menu when tv blanks you loose menu ? does cleaning help mine is very dusty does anyone remember exercising pots I replaced the high voltage PS, and I stil have the problem. So I have one for sale if any one wants it. I for get the P/N but I have it at home. please if you solved this let me know. I have the same problem, I have yet to crack it open and clean it up. Hey Joe... Do you still have your 32 in Sony... I need the power supply out of it if you have not fixed it or plan on fixing it. Let me know if you are interested in parting it out.
