My VCR will not rewind properly. JVC-HR-J71MS...is the model. Rewinds only 6 seconds, stops and powers off. I must then re-power, hit rewind, then 6 seconds, or so, it shuts off. now, i can count to 5, hit stop then rewind again and this way manage to rewind a full tape...but very boring. A repair guy her cannot fix this. Is there a part I can provide him so he can fix it ??

I have the exact same problem. The rewinds are driving us crazy especially when the kids are waiting for their favorite Sesame Street tape. Did you resolve it?

i purchased the JVC vcr here where we live in China about 6 years ago...it was then $200 USD. ..it was the only unit i could find that would play usa tapes AND CHinese tapes as well.
So, if there is a solution , please advise (short of mailing it off som ewhere...too expensive)

It is impossible to just recommend a part unless we look at the unit ourselves to see what is working or not working properly internally.
Unless the VCR is an expensive piece, we usually do not encourage repair because you can purchase them so inexpensively these days. I am not familiar with the model you note, so I do not know how old it is or how much it was to purchase.
How old is it and where are you located?
