HERE IS THE SOLLUTION: I had the very same problem, error 13:01 on my sony DSC F707. 1. You have to reformat the memory stick FROM THE COMPUTER. 2. YOU DONT NEED A SPECIAL PROGRAM. 3. First I plugged my camera into the USB port using the cable that came with the camera. (The computer's USB port on one end of the cable and the slot that is revealed when you flip down the opening form the lens on the camera end of the cable). 4. On Windows I clicked did START, RUN, and then typed this exact thing in the run window (without the quote marks): "Format H: /FS:FAT /A:8192" "H" is my drive letter for my camera. Your drive letter may be different. 5. The important part is /A:8192. This means that the cluster-size on the memor stick has to be 8kb. (The standard format in windows 512kb clusters but the memory stick is different and you have to tell it so.) Happy picture-taking. THE PROBLEM: I have a Sony Mavica CD500 and recently had the C:13:01 file read error. The problems began when I switched from using Memorex to TDK mini cds, although I'm unsure if the brand of cds are really the culprit. After waiting several minutes for the camera to finish "fixing data", the mini-cd was unreadable and couldn't even download the photos through the USB cable connected to the notebook computer. THE SOLUTION: I installed and used the CDRoller program (http://www.cdroller.com) to diagnose the mini-cd on my notebook computer, after adjusting the 'Preferences' section according to the instructions. The program managed to salvage my friend's homecoming pictures on that cd, a once in a lifetime experience! And so, I'm back to using Memorex mini-cds and haven't had the problem since. Here are some helpful notes to avoid this problem altogether. 1. Always have sufficient battery when using the camera to take pictures, initializing and finalizing mini-cds. 2. Never turn off the camera while it's doing anything, for example, while the red light next to the LCD screen is on. 3. Take a photograph at a time to properly save the image to the mini-cd. 4. Read the instruction manual thoroughly to understand the camera's functions and procedures. All in all, I've taken many professional quality photographs with my Sony CD500, and with it's minor limitations, the advantages far exceed them. If you contact me with more details I may be able to help you. John HERE IS THE SOLLUTION: I had the very same problem, error 13:01 on my sony DSC F707. 1.
