Lens cap error message JVC GR-D73, grey screen, cannot record

I have a JVC GR-D73 with error message 'that the lens cap is on(when it isn't on), & there is no image I just get a blacky/grey screen, a flashing yellow icon (looks like a person,2 arrows,& a mountain) appears. My JVC won't record, but the playback of tapes still works. I would appreciate any advice.
