Anyone who owns a JVC camcorder of the "D" followed by two digit models and is experiencing the notorious "condensation - operation paused" warning and likewise is posting a request for assistance should be aware that out of the four procedures that can be used to help the situation only the first two does NOT actually involve any form of dismantling, these being as follows.
(1) Blowing bursts of mildly warm air into the mechanism via the open cassette holder, or
(2) The correct way to clean the dew sensor.
(3) The third method is called by some as the "hard reset" procedure, but is really a memory blanking procedure done by the removal / then reconnection of the internal back up battery plug which in most cases allows normal operation again, this work of course requiring the rear casing to be removed, however this procedure is one that may well have to be repeated as and when necessary so cant be considered as a permanent cure.
(4) This fourth method is the dew sensor disabling procedure and which totally eliminates the problem for good, however this is quite complex and likewise should only be attempted by people who are either used to working on small electromechanical devices or alternatively have a flair for this type of work as the main circuit board has to be dropped down to allow access to connections underneath it, this requiring the removal of two ribbon cables.
They should also be proficient at fine soldering work as two very narrowly spaced pins have to be soldered, so needless to say anyone not used to working on small devices is advised NOT to attempt this task.
This clarification of the procedures involved is only given to save people who have no chance whatsoever of successfully carrying out the work wasting time in requesting the info, likewise it being sent to same!!
