Janet Posted Aug 16, 2010

Please help. The video tape is twisted, what do we do? when we manually wind it it winds twisted. We don't want to break the tape.

Just to add to what was said, no matter what the tape is contained in if it is winding twisted then it must have been accidentally twisted when the slack was being taken up, so you will have to carefully keep pulling it out of the offending section until you reach the problem area, then once done start manually rewinding it again. The main thing to remember is to pull the tape out into a box or similar which is situated well away from any magnetic sources, e.g: loudspeakers etc, and avoid over handling the tape so as not to snag it or it wont pull out of the box easily, as even if there is a lot of tape involved it will still pull out without problems if its pulled out exactly as it was dropped in, so dont shake the box.

Janet, it would be of great assistance to anyone giving advice if you would say "exactly" what you are referring to, although it is suspected that you "might" be referring to a VHS-c adaptor used to play camcorder tapes in a standard VHS tape machine.
