Searching for an extra XL-MG1800 cd-changer I came across this question. The question has been put here long ago, but hey, Victor Company of Japan equipment is worth the answer. When you want to control the XL-MG1800 cd changer you'll have to find yourself a radio(/cassette) built in the 90s. Some models that will work with this large changer are the KS-RG7, KS-RG8, KS-CG10, a few radio's sold during in the same time the "1800" was introduced. The power output of the RG models isn't that big, when you want to add an amplifier you'll have to disconnect the front speakers to protect the extra amps and the radio both from "clipping". The front speaker output of the RG radios can fortunatly be used as a "hi-po" amp signal, so there still is the possibility to connect more than 2 speakers. They do also have extra sub/bass cinch connectors. The CG10 looks great, but as far as I can remember this one only had cinch connectors for the audio system, no internal amp. Don't pin me down on this last one, at the time of the introduction of the "1800" there were about 20 new JVC car radio's introducted, with many, very different features and setups. Don't forget the JVC XL-MG1800, the JVC KS and CG series audio were built in the early 90s, so they will not play mp3 discs. -------- An extra alternative for the XL-MG1800 can be one of the remote controllers with product codes KS-RM6 and KS-RA1, these remotes can also be used to use the JVC XL-MG1800 "cd-tank" with other JVC radios.
