loss of power and lamp

We were watching tv, it was fine and suddenly it went off. About 6 months ago the replace lamp message came on and we called a repairmen who said it really didn't need it and would last a long time still. We believed him. So when the lamp went off we have no sound as well. Will the lamp going out also cause TV to have no sound as well
