is my tv dead?

I have a 1984 Sony Trinitron KV-1946R. It was working perfectly well until 2 days ago. Was watching tv and all of a sudden I heard a loud pop and the picture and sound are gone. It seems to click on and off with the remote but I think it's dead. What just happened? Someone said dust accumulation on back of tv.
