Hand strap for an older Sony Camcorder CCD TRV 308

I have an older camcorder and the strap has some padding on it, where your hand holds the camera. With age the foam padding and the vinyl cover has gone bad and is shedding. I wondered where to buy a spare strap that is new or nearly new to replace it. Or any ideas as to how to fix it. I have put Scotch tape on it to get by, but it could use a better solution.
