HomeCan color on dropped TV be fixed? Our school has a 2001 27 inch Sony Trinitron tv, model # KV-27FS12. It was on a tv stand on the stand dumped over. The t.v. landed on the top front edge when it hit the carpet. The tv works, but the color is rainbowed across the screen. Can this be fixed? If so, is it worth the cost for so old a television? Thanks!

Most likely but not by anyone of a non technical variety, as it suggests that the correction magnets around the neck of the tube have been jolted out of alignment and will need to be reset back to their correct positions. As the set is a few years old the original positions they sat it may well show up as dust free areas which would give assistance for re-positioning back to the original position, and so this could be rectified on site by an engineer as high voltages exist close to the area they are located in. |
