91 models is susceptible to false triggering of the mechanism lock out circuit for a variety of reasons this otherwise known as "Condensation - operation paused", and apart from the device actually being operated in conditions where condensation is likely to occur, like for example using the camcorder in a chilly outdoors environment then bringing it indoors again and attempting to use it without allowing at least 30 minutes for the device to regain temperature then its highly likely that the device suffers from an over active sensor circuit, this "not" being of an adjustable nature. JVC has never admitted to having any problems with the dew sensor circuitry in this range of models, however in later types the sensor was not only of a larger size but also it not being permanently attached the loading motor as applied in all of the models mentioned. Regarding the hard reset, or more accurately called the memory blanking procedure, if this actually works and stays working for a month or so then its likely that genuine condensation was the reason for the warning sign in the first place, if however it either doesnt work or fails within a few days again it can be assumed with reasonable accuracy that provided the camcorder is definitely "not" being used in an adverse environment then an over active sensor circuit is responsible, and with the disabling of same being the only real "permanent" cure possible. Of course this type of job should not be attempted by anyone not familiar with working on small pieces of precision equipment as an element of careful dismantling has to be done, plus them likewise having good soldering skills as two "very" finely spaced PCB pins have to be soldered together. To finalise, with all of these models mentioned there isn't really any other way of completely rectifying the problem as indeed many have found out, and of course as a final qualification JVC does "not" under any circumstances carry out this type of modification and possibly wouldn't even approve of it anyway, as if the mod is carried out and the camcorder is used at any time in a genuine condensation triggering environment this can place the tape in danger of adhering to the video drum, this requiring a more complex dismantling procedure to remove same.">
