Viewfinder problem

My JVC GRS 77 camcorder is only showing rolling negative image through the viewfinder when on record, on-screen information OK. Playback seems OK. My backup GRS 70 is giving no image at all when on record just rolling white horizontal bars and no on screen information. Playback shows no image. How do I fix?
