Remote and panel button functions freeze up and dont work when hooked into VGA (Laptop)

I Have a 47X898 Procision LCD and it looks great, I like it. However after having it for only a week (I won it in a drawing, no purchase) the remote and panel buttons functions do not work when on Video 5 -VGA setup to laptop. However they did work the first couple of days. When it freezes up the picture still works as transmitted by laptop but tv has to be unplugged to turn off cause all functions are frozen. Any Ideas?
