camera shuts down then turns on.

I have been using this camera a few times for my production company, and it's been used at my church several times... Now I have a big event tomorrow and after testing it, it shuts down when I hit the record button. Then when I stop it, it will shut off... After one or two times it stops doing it and just runs normally. What's the problem with the camera? I don't like malfunctions during a big day!! Looking forward to hear from you. Thanks.
