Error Code 20 (auto calibration says problem with front speaker)

I'm having loud/soft random issues with my center speaker...no crackling...auto calibration confirms this with error code 20 but I've confirmed all speaker connections are valid and solid...could the problem be with the receiver's center speaker components plug in? Thanks for any help.
