Need Help with Sony Cybershot TX-1 slide-to-power mechanisem

Ben Posted Jan 15, 2010

camera won't turn on when slide down and when press button to power, it detects as lens is still close

I need help from someone who know how the slide-down-to power work on Sony TX-1. My camera won't power on when slide down and will show slide down lens cover to shoot when I turn it on by pressing the power button. I had disassemble the camera and can not seem to find any parts that responsible for this function as the front cover seem to be just a metal piece with one cable connected to the mainboard. I had tried with another good working camera to switch the front piece with and it still won't power on when slide down but this time, it will allow to take photo as the camera able to detect that the lens is now open. However, if I remove the front piece while still have the cable connected, it will keep display message that the lens is still closed. So if anyone know how Sony Cybershot slide-to-power function work - please kindly provide guideline on how to fix this issue.
