sony cybershot dsc-w55 LCD screen replacement problem

Having problem with lcd screen I replaced

I recently broke my LCD screen on my sony cybershot dsc-w55. I watched a you tube video that showed this procedure being done, and it's relatively simple. I ordered a replacement online for 26.95 from ebay (Pheonix Merchandising/New York) to install in it. After replacing the screen and powering up the camera the lens came out fine but no picture on the screen. A slight flash occurred right when I powered it up but nothing else. I finally realized I could see the screen perfectly to see what picture i was taking but only with my work light shining on the lcd screen. There are only two connections to this lcd screen- a two point saudered connection and a plug in. Could one of these connections be lose or not properly connected and if so, which one? Or could it be a cheap aftermarket part that is phony? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
