Hometroubleshooting camera display I was using my camera to play back a video and it was working perfectly. I turned switched it over from play to record, when I did the display screen went black, not solid black, more like gray with black highlights. Anyway, I tried cleaning the heads, and that didn't work. I was fiddling with it and discovered that if you push the display screen almost closed, the picture pops up, and if you flip the screen around so it lays flat against the camera, the picture is perfect. any suggestions on how to repair, or if I even can?

Well, provided that it wasn't just a coincidence that when you moved the LCD into different positions that you found the LCD picture returning to normal, then the fault you describe would suggest that either the ribbon link cable from inside the LCD through into the camcorder or the LCD orientation correction switch is defective. As far as the switch is concerned all it might require is a light spay of electrical cleaner "carefully applied", whereas with the ribbon cable it might just be a slack connection on its connector, however if not then a new cable may be required and an item not necessarily easy to obtain nor a low cost either, even although its just a cable. |
