can it be repaired?

I have purchased this camera,and it seems that even with the cassette door held closed,(it wont stay closed),it shows tape not inserted..,and if I try to record,it wont..can you help me with the manual,or tell me how much to service it if it can be..Im in the woking area.I bought it from eBay for 50pnds.It is a Sony CCD-V5000E,video camera recorder..serial no:501507.It takes 8m cassettes.
