Sony Trinitron, KV-27V22, picture has gone black but has sound.

My 1998 Trinitron's picture went black today. I tried turning the "screen" screw under the back cover but the picture still only comes on for about 10 secs, then goes to a distorted half screen, then black. Anyone have a diagnosis for this problem? I would really appreciate the help. Dave
