skipping the TV setting in my list of outputs, or allowing the tv to skip it

I have my satellite coming into Video 3 and my playstation 3 hooked up to my digital in. the problem is when I try and switch from the digital In back to Video 3. because there is no signal in the TV input the screen goes blank and I can't even keep pressing the input button to cycle thru. I have to turn off the tv, turn it back on then keep pressing the input button until it eventually changes. and way to get around this issue?
