Re: Kansas City Radio Station for Sale?

Rick Eubank Posted Sep 29, 2009, in response to:Paul Diesel

The Kansas City market is controlled by a few media giants with the possibility of finding a station for sale difficult if not out of reach for most financially. I worked for an AM/FM/Satellite based network as a board operator and wanted to start my own station or buy someone elses. At the time 95.7FM was dark - the result of its principals having no operating capital and a severely storm damaged transmitter site. Since then Kansas City has seen two new FM stations move into the market - 97.3 and 105.1... It would be highly unlikely that any of the stations currently in this market at least on the FM band would be for sale. The only stations that I know of that are locally owned are 92.3 KCCV Olathe and 103.3 KPRS Kansas City... The other possibility would be to find aun unused frequency, have other stations moved to meet spacing requirements, etc - with this option you will have to apply for a new frequency through the rule making process and possibly retain the services of an attorney and a competent broadcast engineer. I am seeking a station in Kansas City myself....
