Panasonic NV-GS11 is stuck on "PC ACCESSING" and not matter how many times the Reset button is pushed, nothing happens.

I have a Panasonic NV-GS11 video camera that started prompting me to regularly push the Reset button & then after a few weeks just stopped working. The message on the screen is, PC ACCESSING. None of the buttons work, but the internal mechanism that ejects the mini DV tape works still works fine. Panasonic in S Africa could not tell me what the problem is and suggested that I buy a new camera ! The user manual offers absolutely no help on this problem.
