Just got a sony TR748E. I slipped in a disc then try to record, but i get an error code with a message to eject the tape, but it gets stuck!

I Just got a sony TR748E. I slipped in a disc then try to record, but i get an error code with a message to eject the tape, but it gets stuck everytime I try to do this! When eventually it opens and ejects, the tape is usually caught in the drive and a certain length is unwind. Please does anyone have a solution? Thanx
