HomeTape unit is not rising after opening the cover in CR-DVM5 camcorder unitRamesh T Posted Sep 11, 2009Not able to change the tape as the tape unit is not rising up after opening the cover. Normally, when we open the cover of the tape unit, the mechanism automatically raises the tape unit for us to remove the old tape. In my camcorder, after opening the cover, it makes few screeching noises but the tape unit wouldn't rise up. Other than this issue, my camcorder works normally. Please suggest if there is a way to physically pull the unit up without damaging the unit.

Re: Tape unit is not rising after opening the cover in CR-DVM5 camcorder unitJB38 Posted Sep 11, 2009You could try and manually help the tape release by pulling "very slightly" just at the point where the mechanism is making the noise, as there is a possibility that the cassette has stuck for some reason. Have you tried rewinding the tape both ways before trying to eject it? Also isn't there an error code number showing on the LCD? like for example E-02 or 03? Main point to remember is do "not" force the tape release, as it can cause severe damage to the mechanism and something not easily repaired. |
