so with the camera off (you may have to pull the battery and put it back in to get it off) smack the camera with the palm of your hand as hard as you can on the side with the lens. sounds skrewed but this works! you may have to do it several times but it will work. i think what happens is the humidity causes it to slip a gear. but based on what i've read online and me doing it - it works...
