First of all its assumed that you have some type of video capture software installed on your PC, like even the standard Windows movie maker etc. Also if you have the above or similar in operation have you tried switching the camcorder off, then on again whilst its coupled into the PC? as this will in many of the simpler cases trigger the PC into recognising it.
