If you use a "firewire" cable to transfer the video into your PC you do not require any USB streaming software, of course your PC has to have a firewire input and this can be either a four or six pin type, six being the usual for desktop PC's, with the other end of the cable used having the standard DVi plug which fits into the camcorder. (DVi also being known as firewire)
The PC would have to have some form of "video capture" software like Windows movie maker or similar although any brands would do, Nero being particularly good as you can edit, add titles or insert music tracks etc giving the professional touch.
It should be said though that many people frequently experience problems when attempting to transfer video into a PC, and other less easy to cure reasons can be due to compatibility problems between the camcorder and the type of firewire card being used in the PC, or problems associated with the operating system the PC dependant on what it happens to use, XP - Vista or a MAC.
