The lens cap problem was caused by a batch of defective image sensors having been fitted to not only JVC devices but quite a few other brands as well, the defective image sensors having been manufactured by Sony who also suffered a massive number of failures in certain models in their own ranges, so it wasn't by any means a JVC problem.
The condensation issue is due not so much to a defective component but more one of an over sensitive design problem, so nothing can really be replaced that would permanently help the situation and its more one of carrying out a slight modification to kill the sensor, this obviously not approved by JVC albeit that it cures the problem.
