Re[5]: JVC Camcorders

Rob Posted Jun 30, 2009, in response to:JB38

As previously stated in my Post, I DO have Firewire for the XP. Huge amounts of space on both Vista PC anf XP PC.... Both crash when trying to capture Video... PCs recognise the Cameras, but goes no further.

Rob - Just in the interests of accuracy, on your posting made on the 14th you do "not" say you are using firewire connections nor do you mention what software you are using, so this gave the impression that you could be using the standard USB coupling into the PC along with a JVC driver CD, this being effectively a USB streaming facility and which transfer via USB will not work without it. As regards to your problem, I know the D20 reasonably inside out and any problems experienced with transferring video from this via firewire nearly always has to be caused by problems in where its being transferred to, i.e: the PC, so I can only suggest you double check that you are using the correct procedure in whatever video capture software you are using, which I take it might be Windows movie maker, but of course once again you haven't explicitly mentioned this either so I have to assume it is. Remember that when using movie maker capture via firewire the PC takes over the control of the camcorder and you have to follow exactly the directions given on the screen, if however you "are" doing this then I still suspect that your problem is possibly being caused by your PC, as its not unheard of for a PC's firewire input board to have compatibility problems with certain camcorders.
