Looking to replace touch pad circuit or whole flap.

I am having problems operating my camera as the touch pad functions will not work and the zoom extends right out when the top flap is closed. If I leave the flap open the zooms can be operated and the keypad works. Camera has never been dropped or used anywhere in damp conditions. Can you tell me Will replacing the touchpad or the whole flap rectify this problem. Perhaps others have had this problem and been able to fix it. Would love to hear.
