Thank you for your reply. main charger got lost in the post after i forgot it at my mum's... bought an aftermarket charger from maplin as an emergency before my last trip with the camcorder. It did recharge the original battery, i was then able to tape 30 min of mountaineering over a 9 days period in Switzerland last month. got home, set to recharge the battery to download the tape onto my computer. charger did not recharge the battery and charger indicator didn't register battery. After the charge, the camcorder refused to power up. Note: it did power up at home before the charge. ordered a different charger with a spare battery from amazon. New charger recharged both old and new battery but still no life from the camcorder, on either battery. i did check the batteries with a voltmeter, both appear fully charged. So it looks like a small dismantle at the moment. Will try this weekend. Thanks again for your reply, remi
