Re: Pinnacle Studio 8 Recording Problem

Sam Dykes Posted Apr 10, 2009, in response to:Feldhaus

It may be one or more of the following:(1)check that your VHS feeder has TBC and frame Sync correction(2)check your REF sync-VERY IMPORTANT-is it EXT?(:ie genlocked to the pinnacle capture card?) or are you relying on the internal REF Video in the VHS deck and/or (3):TBC and FRame Sync on the Pinnacle capture card-use this feature (and select appropriate NTSC or PAL operation.) A recommended system for VHS lowband capturing (digitising) would be to use a JVC BR-S822U DECK (with SA-T22U TBC and COMPONENT YUV OUTPUT CARD Option)(can be found on Ebay in excellent condition and cheap too).Use the YUV output and the EXT REF Video output BNC jacks to the capturing card(select ext ref on the JVC deck)-MPEG 2 should look great. I have these JVC decks(PAL and NTSC versions) in my studio and use for video digitising and playback to AJA I/O.Works a treat for capturing Lo band contents. Best of luck
