Well I too had this error and I tried all the posted ideas.

This is what I did. I used the eraser on all 15 of my memory sticks. I banged it soft then hard, Then I threw it against the wall. It just kept dinging that error message. Then I beat it with a stapler, to no avail. Then I took it outside and slammed it against my cement driveway. This time it did not ding that error. In fact it will never ding again because I beat the shit out of it with a ball pean hammer. God rest its soul.
