HomeCLASS ACTION SUIT NEEDED FOR THIS PROBLEM My SONY tv #9017243 died after barely a year of use! Paid alot of money for it at Sears thinking it would be well worth it. Yes terrific picture when we first got it and it looked great since my hubby built it into the wall so it looked like a flat screen! Then it just refused to TURN ON and has no sound, just a popping sound and the red light blinking! The tv repair man said $160 to come look at it and we are attempting to trouble shoot it ourselves by checking out the back control panels inside tv. Thanks for some helpful tips folks. But a 250 monster is difficult to move!

Although some Sony TV's do seem to have a problem, much as its nice to have the TV flush with the wall surface are you sure that by building it into a wall cavity that the ventilation wasn't seriously obstructed? as if it was it would cause the power unit to fail through overheating. (its almost guaranteed that it will!) my friend had this problem with a different tv - we took the back off- not easy and there was a blown fuse there, simular to the old long glass ones used it cars. We replaced it and it is still working. be careful there is a lot of voltage STORED in tv even if it is off!!! |
