That model is not really known to suffer from this problem so its a bit strange that this is happening, have you tried blowing mildly warm air into the top of the mechanism? this done with the aid of a hair-drier on its cool setting.
It should be pointed out that there isn't really "official" instructions for disabling the sensor on "any" JVC models, albeit that I have been sending out full info on how to carry this out on certain JVC mini-DV models for about the past three years now, which of course you yourself should have received last week in a reply to a query you posted.
