JVC DX-T99 no power

I have a JVC DX-T99 surround sound system it was running fine untill it suddenly made a weird noise and stopped,there is no power what so ever no standby light and upon inspection all fuses are fine no burnt boards etc i have it booked in for repair but would like to no if any of these systems have a persistent problem in this area,power surges are also a possibility in my area
