Home | Previous messageJVC has received reports that in certain circumstances, the following models may, while in the camera mode, show no picture, a distorted picture and/or display “LENS CAP” even though the lens cap is removed. We have identified the probable cause as a failure of the CCD image sensor. Repairs of units exhibiting these problems as a result of a defect in the CCD image sensor will be made free of charge at a JVC Authorised Service Centre even if the unit is outside warranty. Please call our Consumer Support Department on 0870-330-5000 to obtain your free repair. We apologise for any inconvenience and we appreciate your understanding and support. Please note that this offer expires on 30th June 2009 and is applicable only to failure of the CCD image sensor. Hi Gary, How ironic is this. I have had a JVC GR-D20EK Camcorder for years, and approx. 18 months ago I got the message "Lens Cap" on, even though it was off. I had no idea what the problem was, and just thought - that was that! I therefore went out and bought a new JVC camcorder, which has been working fine. My son found the GR-D20EK only last Fri. (3/7/09) and asked if he could repair it could he have it, as I have been promising one for his birthday, next month. I said I doubt it could be repaired, but after checking on the NET he came across YOUR message of free repair - only to find unbelievably that the offer expired only 3 days previously. Is there any way (PLEASE) that you can have sympathy with us and still allow us the free repair - being only 3 days over the deadline - my son would be over-joyed ? If so please let me know what to do.
