Management file broken

Hi I wonder if you would be able to help me. The last time I used my camcorder it was in perfect working order. I have just gone to use it again approximately 6 weeks later and the screen is displaying 'Video management file broken to record/playback video recovery is required - Yes/No'. I have followed the on screen instructions to recovery the file, but nothing is happening. Can you advise. Many thanks. Sue Thomas
