HomeHow do I replace the internal clock battery myself? Hi - I recently bought the JVC GR-D815E Mini DV Camcorder. It's very similar in look to the JVC GR-D850 (I searched online) - I had an HD problem while transferring to my Mac. The Mac crashed and ever since then I can not connect the Cam (FireWire) while I've got a FireWire HD attached - the Cam works fine. I tried everything and read on Apple.com that maybe all I've got to do is remove the clock battery for a few seconds and insert it again. I can't figure out where it is? Anybody know about this? thanks Phil

Although I cannot see how the camcorders clock battery can possibly be responsible for the problem mentioned (indications being that its a PC problem) as if a camcorders clock battery is running down you would keep losing the clock time, and if this doesnt happen the battery is OK, however if you want to change the battery although I dont have a maintenance manual for that particular model I can say that in most of JVC models of that design the lithium back up battery is located in the rear section of the camcorder, needless to say this has to be unscrewed for access. On some other models its the front section that contains the battery, but as aforementioned that design of camcorder always contains the battery in the rear casing, with approx five screws holding the casing on. |
