The button blinking is for the same reasons as below. Any TV, "no matter what brand" that switches to standby mode after its switched on usually always does it because a fault has been detected in the power supply circuitry and it has shut down for safety reasons. If the TV is of a CRT type the fault is usually in the timebase circuits. ALWAYS MENTION THE BRAND AND MODEL OF TV THAT IS BEING REFERRED TO.
